Hands first.
A knob you want to turn. Tape you can tug. A switch marked Dive. Tools should make you curious before they make you reach for a manual.
THE BEGINNINGS / A LITTLE BACKSTORY
Somewhere between “what does this knob do?” and “one more take,” things got interesting. Welcome to Rayform.
Terrestrial Origins.ABOUT RAYFORM / MEET RAYCE
Rayform started with Rayce Vaughan: an audio engineer, composer, sound recordist, and sound designer who began making music at ten in Saskatchewan. These days, his work travels through film, television, games, music, and just about anywhere else a sound can find a home.
The plugins came from a familiar itch: hearing something in your head and wishing there were a way to reach in and make it happen. What if you could grab the tape in a tape echo and give it a tug? That sort of question has a habit of taking over the workbench.
Rayform is where those ideas get to make some noise. The hope is simple: that you have as much fun playing with these creations as Rayce has making them—and leave with an idea you can’t wait to hear.
A little curiosity goes a long way.THE GENERAL IDEA
A knob you want to turn. Tape you can tug. A switch marked Dive. Tools should make you curious before they make you reach for a manual.
The visuals can visit another dimension. The sound still has to fit your track. Start small, compare often, and let your ears have the last word.
Make something useful. Make it a little odd. Leave enough space for the moment that makes you say “Siiiiiick.” Very scientific stuff.
PULL UP A CHAIR
Nine plugins. One complete collection. Plenty of ways to get pleasantly sidetracked.
